1995,March,10th Ulrich Krinzner Potsdam, Germany email to: CIS: 100414,661 via Internet: 100414,661@compuserve.com OPLGAME.ZIP ... contains: README.TXT this file OPLGAME1.OPL OPL source code GAMEPRO3.WRI about an idea ... GAMEPRO3.WRI tells you a story. Your ideas and help are requested. The idea is: many people work together on an OPL program to take it to a higher level (better quality, short code). The yield is experience, fun, and last but not least a nice little freeware game. OPLGAME1.OPL is the complete OPL code (for S3A) of a very simple game. It is a little bit silly, but it is thought to be a basis for improving it, regarding nearly everything: basic ideas, sentences, number of roomes, layout, graphics and so on. How it works: Basic room number arrangement: 30 20 21 22 23 24 14 15 16 17 07 08 09 10 11 12 01 02 03 04 05 06 If all conditions fit well, you can reach the rooms by using the arrow keys. Which ways you are able to walk is shown by a wind rose. You start at room two. You can TAKE, USE, READ and OPEN things by using the first letter key. You don't need to tell which thing is meant; the system is too simple - the *parser* wouldn't understand this. A counter tells you, if it was well done or (maybe) had no effect. *i* is for information about things you have TAKEN already, *v* stands for the informations you can get about the changing of the variables. Complete solution (you might play it at first without reading): Go west,go north, TAKE(lantern), go south, go east, go north, USE(lantern), READ(signs), go east, go east, go south, OPEN(box), TAKE(ruby), go west, USE(button), go east, go east, TAKE(plaid), TAKE(key), go south, go west, USE(button), go east, go north, go west, go west, go north, TAKE(rope), go west, go north, go west, USE(rope), go south(=down), TAKE(saphire), go north(=up), go east, go south, go east, go south, go east, go north, go north(=up), go east, USE(key), go north, USE(ruby), USE(saphire), find the way back to start position(room 2). Now feel free to change the program. Before uploading the changed program give me a short notice in section 18/general/OPL game workshop. I would coordinate the names of the new programs, so that no one does delete randomly another ones file by using same name. If possible use ZIP-compressing or better just plain OPL text. Best regards Ulrich
